Who is Eligible For the Live-In Caregiver Program?

• Have valid or pending work permit extension/restoration
• Work experience as a Home Child Care provider or Home Support Worker
• At least one year of full-time experience since November 30, 2014
• Job aligned with NOC code duties
• Language skills at CLB 5 or NLCL (French) 5 in reading, writing, speaking, and listening

What are Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot?

Home Child Care Provider Pilot (NOC 4411)

• No need to live with the employer

Home Support Worker Pilot (NOC 4412)

• Care for someone needing help in their home or employer’s home
• Only home support workers are eligible

Language Levels

• CLB or NCLC 5 in all language skills

Education

• 1-year post-secondary credential, Canadian or foreign (with ECA for foreign)

Admissibility

• Biometrics, medical exams, police clearance certificate, may be required

How Can You Apply for a Work Permit as a Caregiver?

Occupation-Specific Work Permit

Caregivers meeting eligibility criteria can apply for an occupation-specific work permit aligned with NOC codes 4411 or 4412, providing valuable work experience for permanent residence.
